death of democracy

i am a silent spectator. i see the things happening around me daily. i know they are happening. i find some of them correct and some of them wrong. but in either case i just sit and watch.

government has increased reservation for backward classes in my institution. What is the so called backward class. As far as i know in olden days caste system was introduced based on the profession of a person. if someone is a priest then he was called brahmin. so the people doing so called disrespectful works were called backward classes. but in todays society every person is doing what he/she likes. its not that if my father is a govt. official so i also have to be the same. i am free to choose my profession. thats what is democracy. so according to this rule the caste funda is totally absurd now.

anyways so i was saying govt. has incresed reservation for backward classes. i know my institute wont hold the same respect after 20 years as it does now. it would eventually fall prey to politics. during the times when my father was studying he studied in one of countries best universities. but now noone even wants to study there. that is the rule of society. nothing is forever.

but i think dividing people like this on basis of something which doesnt even exist is wrong. its a pity that we are biggest democracy in the world. but in real sense of the word we are not. democracy is being murdered this way. some of my fellow brothers have started protesting against the mighty government. they were beaten brutually. no one cares if they are on hunger strike for weeks. no one cares if one of them died of hunger. this is no democracy. no it is definitely not.

but what can we do. what can we do to improve the condition of our nation. the trivial answer is nothing at all. most of us are so busy building our future that we have no time for all this. and i am a part of them. some say "we are the future of nation". but i wonder that even if i become bill gates will it make any difference to the country ?? maybe. everyone of us struggling their own life. so those who just sit and cry that they are not bieng given equal opportunities are losers.
